Naming a new ski run is a fun project. We'd like to let you in on it this year. We have a list going of names we like and we'd like to hear your ideas too. Then we'll put together the top 5 names and post them as the Poll on http://www.powderhorn.com/ so everyone can vote.
Have you always thought 'Screamin Banshee' would make a good name? Or maybe you have a story that would lend itself to a good run name. Post your ideas in a comment here or send them to ski@powderhorn.com.
Keep it clean! We don't need someone's child saying, "Daddy...what's a ____?"

Whistler's Mother
Swift Air, with lots of jumps and rails for everyone to do! One run dedicated to the park! YAH!
i think that "Elk Hair Glade" would be a cool one if you're gonna make a new glade run
how about something to do with mountain ecology like "krummholz(crooked wood) clip", or local geology (e.g., Wasatch Run), or local fare such as "hippy dip", "cow punch", or "spun junction" or "moose goose" for the old story about antlers in the treetops, i.e. who goosed the moose?
great ideas everyone!
Are these going to be advanced intermediate trails, expert, double black, or what? Knowing this would help make a name more appopriate. Oh and by the way, what exactly are they doing with the deck, it certainly is being prepared for something? Looks like just resurfacing, but sure would be nice if you could inlay something intereting on the surface like a giant compass pointing to interesting places on the mountain and perhaps further like China. A little artistry in concrete never hurts! Plain grey is so dull.
This will be a blue run on the other side of Red Eye. You are right, the deck is being resurfaced right now. What a great idea about the compass! I'll pass that along to our Business Services manager who is heading up the project. Hmmm...hey Do, did you ever realize your title abbreviated is BS Manager? :)
ka-POW!...Big Bear...Lands End...hmmm ill keep thinking
Is anything up there named after Henry Swenson? According to the GJS article, he was instrumental in getting Powderhorn going. Swenson's Last Stand?
VERY good idea!
Hills Like White Elephants
How about Vest's Vista or Don's Draw named for the late Don Vest who was a constant at "old Powderhorn" Don owned and operated the ski and rental shop for many years and was highly thought of. If you never got to meet Don, you missed one of the truly great Powderhorn icons. Just a thought.
Hmm, we are on the Grand Mesa, how about "Mesa Mambo"
