Creeping Green

Thanks to the latest round of spring thunderstorms, a refreshing blanket of green is steadily creeping up the mountain and enveloping the resort. The snow runoff is babbling and the wildflowers are beginning to show themselves. I think my lunch break today will consist of a short hike up the service road to take more pictures.

Love the mountain foliage? Powderhorn will be hosting guided Alpine Plant Tours starting in July. More information to come.

Memorial Weekend Special

We'd like to say a big thank you to all members of the branches of military service and their families! The Inn at Wildewood is offering 20% off rooms for all members of the military and their family. Rooms start at just $79/night at full price. Just call 970-268-5170 to make your reservations. Enjoy some fishing and hiking on the mesa all weekend for a good price!

On a totally different note, I'm outta here for the next couple weeks so we'll have a guest blogger. Due to the overwhelming amount of work I've thrown at this poor girl, updates will probably come every few days rather than Tuesday-Friday.

Guest Photos

We got some cool post-season photos sent to us yesterday from Matt Canterbury. He and a buddy snowshoed up and snowboarded down during one of the last big storms in April. It's crazy to think now about how much snow we had just one month ago!

Looks like a pretty good reward after that hike

Send in your PH pictures or video anytime!

Back Off Bucko

This little guy is hanging out right outside my office....no doubt thinking about breaking in to steal my crackers.

Runoff News

Here's an interesting article in the Daily Sentinel on the dust storms and how they've affected runoff. According to the article, we had around 12 dust storms this spring! No wonder we're having a hard time getting the red tint off our deck.

2009-10 Prices

Good news! Season pass and lift ticket prices will NOT change for next season! We're tightening up our budgets and going to work hard to cut costs so it's easier on us all.

We really encourage everyone to purchase your season pass in August as it will be about 40% off the full price. For all the pricing, click here.

7 Months

While there's still 7 months until we open again for skiing & riding, we're knee deep in 2009-10 season planning. People are always asking what it is us administration folks actually do during the summer. I just laugh....we crunch numbers, set budgets, make plans, change everything, pray and then do a little hiking too.

We're close to settling on our pricing structure for next season, especially the season passes(with an announcement coming soon). We're also in the process of changing the logo. Have an idea? Email us! ski@powderhorn.com

Clean Up Day

Enough snow has melted that the entire staff tackled the resort clean up today. Wow let's just say we found some interesting things. I found a nice New Balance running shoe. If you're missing that, let me know...or could I just have the other one please?

The place is looking nice again, ready for Mother's Day Brunch this Sunday. If you're heart just stopped for a second, that means you've forgotten that Mother's Day is coming up. Don't worry, go buy a card and then bring Mom up here!

Welcome Utah

With all this wind lately, half of Utah has landed here in western Colorado. The runs are now noticeably redish-brown!

Redeye

Employees of the National Weather Service's Grand Junction office took a trip down to Silverton this week to check out a snow study plot among other things. Look at the massive dust layers in the snow at their study area.
