Employee Ski Day

We just had a great time skiing, eating and playing games at our end-of-season party today. What a perfect way to end the season for all our employees!

For all the employees- here's the slideshow that was supposed to play at the party...

First Tracks

Look at all those people that got out there for firsts today. Good job!

UPDATE: Single round-trip bus passes for this weekend are available at Traz for $8

March Madness

This is our very own March Madness! I've tallied it up and we've had 30 inches of snow this week! We picked up another foot in the last 24 hours (8 inches of that was during lift hours yesterday).

With lift tickets at $35 (just $25 for guys) it's MADNESS if you don't come this weekend.

FYI- Highway 65 is closed on top of the mesa until about noon today for avalanche control.

Pow Pow Pics

Plenty O' Powder

Wow fresh snow every day this week! We're really going out with a bang! It's currently not snowing (9am) but we're forecast to get 5-9" throughout the day.

Here's just a few random pieces of information that we want to update you on:

We've dropped the special ticket price for Men's Weekend (Saturday & Sunday) to $25 so the guys get a deal too. We'll also have beer specials, live music and chair massages for all.

Sunday is closing day and we always encourage you to dress up and celebrate! Many people go old school with their outfits but I know there will be some interesting characters out on the slopes too.

The SlushSprocket will be held on Saturday at 3pm with registration at 2pm in the lodge. $5 to enter, winner takes the whole cash pot. It'll be 2 heats, shotgun starts, from Midway down on Peacemaker. Perfect location for everyone to watch! Only requirement for competitors is that you listen to your mother and wear a helmet!

One of the bears is out frolicking in the powder this morning. We just saw him cross Redeye....lucky little sneak.

p.s. Wow was I wrong with the title of that last post. Good thing to be wrong about!

UPDATE: 10:30AM 8" in the last 24 hours, snowing hard!

The Last One

It's a POWDER DAY!!!

Most likely the last one of the season so drop what you're doing and get to the mountain! Lift tickets are still only $35.

Have fun!

UPDATE: A group of us just skied Yoohoo, Showdown/Quickdraw and it was goooood! You have to keep your knees loose though.
Also, for Men's Weekend (this Saturday & Sunday) we are dropping tickets to $25 for the fellas!

Spring Snow

It's good to see snow falling again and temperatures that start with a 3 rather than 5! We've picked up an inch so far...3-5 inches expected throughout the day today and more tonight.

New snow + $35 tickets = good last week

Saturday, March 21, 2009

West End Closed

The West End lift is now closed as we have bears very active on the slopes over there! Some of you may remember that this happened a couple years ago. The warm temperatures have caused some bear dens to open up a little early. We don't want to disturb them so we've made the call to close that side of the mountain.

Because of the closing, lift tickets are now just $35!

Rubber Ducky You're The One

The staff here at Powderhorn are having a blast planning for Closing Weekend (which is next weekend). We're encouraging everyone to dress up in old school ski attire or a costume of any kind. I know for a fact there will be a Spiderman and several 70s skiers....I've even heard rumor of a penguin showing up.

You'll start to notice lots of rubber duckies floating around too. Late in the afternoon a pond forms right after the load ramp on the Take Four quad. Each day there's more rubber ducks hanging out there.

Start thinking now about your costume for closing day! I'm going to check out Mad Margret's today, see what I can find. That's on 1st street if you live in Grand Junction.
