Terrain Park News

We got an excellent question on the last post. Will there be anything new in the terrain park this year?

Thanks for asking. We're actually making plans to change things up this year. The park will be moving, actually the plan is to have pockets of features spread throughout the mountain. So you can take laps with lots of variety. You'll see the classic stuff with some new creativity and roller sections. The new park manager (to be announced soon) will be designing the park layout. Plus you'll see it change up more often through the season.

The kid's park on EZ is going to see strong improvement too and a competition just for the little guys. Another Magic Forest course is being cut soon too for the ski school groups to enjoy.

I like the idea of having the features spread out throughout the mountain. This way you can still enjoy your run, and not be confined to one small section of the mountain. Some hidden hits in the trees would be sick too. WORRD!

Im so glad i left that comment now :D.

I really like the idea of pockets of parks throughout the run it really adds a new dynamic to the runs.

My last question is will there be any new features added to last years park features?

i like your guys' idea of scattering features around the mountain. but It would be so sick if you guys decided to scatter some tree rails throughout the mountain as well!

does this mean an awesome jump line?

My friends and I feel that the spread out terrain park is not the best idea. Having a bigger park concentrated in one area would be the best option. Thank you.

p.s. Ski Swap is November 7th

Sure will! Once we know more how things are going to look, we'll let everyone know on the blog

Are you guys going to make Organic Park features (Tree rails and jibs)?

a jump line would really be great

If the park is just spread out around the resort wont this kind've inhibit flow and take a lot more runs to get the job done?
I think that a concentrated park could be better.

As the previous comment stated, having features around the hill could certainly become a problem for other skiers and riders. We all know any feature could get a group of people congregating above the feature and below it, with the feature itself encouraging higher speeds entering and exiting. In placing a feature anywhere else on the mountain beside the park, great care in placement well away from any regular traffic flow would be mandatory along with the added warning that any features that becomes problematical would be immediately removed or relocated. Powderhorn has its fair share of great safe freestylers, and also the irresponsible ones that tend to come flying out of the woods right in front of you without even looking! Obviously great care should be taken when ANY part of the mountain becomes the seeming property of any type of rider or skier, and any kind of feature or segregated area has the potential to do this.

whatever you guys do, just make the park nice and flowy down 1 whole run so you could hit some jumps and then flow right into some rails. a wallride would be sick too.

Make a "good" jump again. I understand that powderhorn struggles when it comes to making its own snow... but where ever we can make the largest mound of white stuff, make it. Josh had the sickest Phorn jump ever below kiddy keg, PLEASE BRING IT BACK!

A real kicker would definately be appreciated. Like this guy said..I know you guys have a hard time comming up with the snow, but just so you know, we'd love some more hang time!!

I got a sick idea. nobody likes the run tenderfoot so throw a big one run park on it! that would be sick! we get a sick park with a lift that never stops! consider it.

haha ^ my cousin likes tenderfoot. but that would be cool. i just dont feel like going through that long straight to hit rails/jumps. whateveer happens i hope the park is SICK!

omg i <3 tenderfoot O.O

maybe on the end of boring runs put a little jump line of like 5 10 and 15 foot jumps. like on the end of maverick/bills. it would be fun.

I think that enhancing the rollers on the beginning of Maverick would be epic. Definitely would become the most fun run out there. The jump at the end of the moguls on kitty keg was really fun, I'd like to see it come back. I also enjoyed the jumps the shoot you out of the trees(but not when little children are at then bottom, of course *wink* *wink*).
Just one thing that I'm curious about, will there be any new terrain added to the park this year? I.E. rails. If you guys take your terrain park from last year and spread it around the mountain, there isn't gonna be much. I enjoyed the park, but there wasn't much, and spreading it out would make the rails and jumps harder to find.

longer runs that have more features are what everybody wants even if they dont know it. Little features everywhere are cool, but does p-horn have the snow to do that? I'd rather hit 10 jumps and a few rails than one jump in one run any day...
