Hi everyone! I will be driving into Powderhorn December 27 from Houston, Texas. Is it ok or safe to drive Highway 50 then 65 from Pueblo to the resort? I can drive I-25 to I-70, but it seems like I would save time cutting straight across on 50. Any thoughts or comments appreciated. Adam

THEY KEEP 50 AND 65 IN REAL GOOD SHAPE. I HAVE DRIVEN IT MANY TIMES. STILL MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GOOD SNOW TIRES OR CHAINS. WAYNE

Either route is maintained well, but keep an eye on the doppler just in case.

I saw an H-town reference and couldn't resist commenting. I'm a native Texan refugee that escaped 3 years ago.

All depends on weather, heed the two comments above. You can also look at http://www.cotrip.org/.

It looks really short on the map, but 50 from Blue Mesa down to Montrose is long and winding. for that matter Canon City to Salida is slow too; even during summer.

If there are bad winter storms stick to 70. They keep it cleared really well.
