History Lesson

As we all wait as patiently as possible to ski the Grand Mesa, why not get a little education? Powderhorn has existed since 1966 but skiing on the Grand Mesa has been going on since the 1930s.

The story of those powder lovers before us is a great one. We wrote about it a few years back in honor of our 40th anniversary. Here are the posts again for your reading pleasure. There will be a test...

How cold does it have to get to start making snow?

It needs to be consistently under 20 degrees. 15-18 is a the perfect range for snowmaking. In the last week our lows have been 25-32, so a little cooling off is still needed.
