The End is Near
The end of summer is nearing. This aspen is clearly more excited than the others.
The Farmer's Almanac came out yesterday and is calling for a colder and wetter winter for two-thirds of the country. Only the far west and southeast are expected to have normal winter seasons. While many people are upset...we say, bring it!

Facelift
Among the many projects we're tackling this summer, our sign at the entrance is getting a major facelift. The new sign will include an electronic sign which we'll use to keep you updated on all the fun stuff happening year-round.
When our guys peeled off the top layer of the sign, they were suprised to find the original hiding behind it. Check out that old logo!

Lots of Moosen
According to the logic of comedian Brian Regan, if the plural of 'ox' is 'oxen,' then the plural for 'moose' should be 'moosen.' Well we have a lot of moosen.
The picture on our homepage is of the twin moose that we see frequently around the mountain. Here are more pictures of them and Mama Moose.
These pictures are taken with the magic of a zoom lens, please don't get that close to moose(n)!

Powderhorn Dude Ranch
Some of you who like to check out the webcam may have noticed lots of cows running around the slopes. Didn't you know we double as a dude ranch in the summer? They are great as lawnmowers and fertilizers. We even have our own brand now.
Just kidding!! Somebody's cows are on the loose and decided that they like Powderhorn quite a bit. They aren't shy either as they've spent considerable time watching our lift maintenance crew. But the brand above is a concept for our 08-09 stickers.

Is It Winter Yet?
I don't know if the hankering to ski or ride starts this early for you guys...but since we are up here all the time, it's hard not to get excited prematurely. The worst thing you can do this time of year is watch a ski or snowboard video. I'm telling you, it will wreck you. It's like giving a ten year old a 6-pack of Red Bull and locking him in a closet.
However, if you just can't resist like us, here is a great teaser for the upcoming Absinthe Films video. Their video last year was called Optimistic which we watched a lot for the proper inspiration.

Season Pass FAQs
We'll attempt to read your mind and answer your questions:
Q: Do I need to have my picture taken?
A: If you are an adult and had a pass last year you will not have to have your picture taken again. Unless you are unhappy with your mug on last year's pass. Then you can replace it. Kids grow like weeds, so they will need to have their picture retaken each year. If this is your first year to have a pass, we need your picture.
Q: Where do I get my picture taken?
A: We have several opportunities in the fall in Grand Junction to have your pic taken. Most dates are TBD, but you will be able to find us at Gene Taylor's, Summit Canyon Mountaineering, Sports Authority, and the Ski Swap on Nov. 8. Check the website for dates as they are booked.
You can get your picture taken this Sunday, the 10th, at the Flat Top Festival! 9am-9pm here at the mountain.
Q: How do I get my hands on my pass?
A: We will mail it to you unless you would like to pick it up at any of our town shows or here at the mountain.
Q: How much will pass prices go up in September?
A: An adult pass is currently $393 (best price) and will be $436 in September. Order now!
Q: Is Powderhorn having the special again for Mesa State students?
A: Yes, MSC students & staff can purchase a pass for $275 at our on-campus sales: Sept 4, 10, 17. Must have valid MavCard or Student ID# to qualify.
Have more questions? Leave us a comment and we'll get right back to ya.

Come up and check them out for yourself this Sunday at the Flat Top Festival!
I'm going to see how many times this week I can refer to the Flat Top Fest so you will come hang out with us. Hey, it's my job
